The Carnival season is about to kick into high gear in New Orleans. Soon all the major parades will start to roll. We want to make sure you have fun while at the parade route. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind while at the route. This is New Orleans, so things will get crazy. If you bring your children, keep a close eye on them. They will want to catch all the beads they can get. You will have to make sure everyone keeps a safe distance from the trucks and the parade floats. Krewe members are usually pretty experienced and will throw beads and other trinkets directly to you or your child. If you are with your friends, remember that the parades are a family event. Do not try to catch beads and throws that were intended for kids. Stay away from the Mardi Gras ladders. Give the little kids a chance to catch some beads. You or your kids should never pick up beads that hit the grounds. Not only are the streets in New Orleans rather, let’s say, unsanitary during the Carnival season, but picking up beads from the ground can also be dangerous. They can get stuck under the tires of the trucks or floats. Everybody will be drinking on the parade route, just pace yourself. Don’t start out doing shots you may miss the parades entirely. Be careful, but enjoy the parades!
Below a list of some of the parades you do not want to miss this Carnival season:
